Who is eligible to apply?
This program is ideal for entrepreneurs in Southeast MI who are in the late stages of developing their business idea and are preparing for launch. Participants should be motivated to refine their business plans by learning more about market research, operational planning, funding strategies, and how to formally launch their business. We encourage individuals from all industries and backgrounds to apply to this program.
Is the Cohort only open to 1st & 2nd generation immigrant entrepreneurs?
No—the Tejara Trailhead Cohort is open to all entrepreneurs, regardless of background. While Tejara’s mission centers on uplifting 1st & 2nd generation immigrant & Arab American/MENA founders, our programing intentionally welcomes a diverse mix of participants from all backgrounds!
What are the expectations for participants?
Sessions will be held weekly from 5:30pm-7pm at the Tejara Innovation Hub (4921 Schaefer Rd, Dearborn, MI 48126). Participants are expected to attend at least five of six meeting sessions in person to successfully graduate. Assignments will be given during class to be worked on collaboratively, and additional worksheets will be given to further build upon information given in the working sessions.
What will sessions look like?
Each weekly session will be fast-paced, interactive, and hands-on. Participants can expect a mix of:
• Guest Lectures: Insights from experienced entrepreneurs, industry experts, and investors who will share practical strategies and real-world lessons.
• Workshops: Guided activities where you’ll actively apply new concepts to your own business idea — such as developing financial projections, refining your target market, or building a pitch.
• Coworking Time: Dedicated space to work alongside your cohort, get feedback from peers and mentors, and make progress on your assignments and business plan.
The sessions are designed to be engaging and dynamic, ensuring that every week you leave with tangible steps completed toward launching or strengthening your business.

• Business registration and compliance
• Bookkeeping and budgeting
• Refining and delivering a business pitch
How much does it cost?
We are excited to offer this program at no cost to participants!
What does graduation from the program look like?
At the end of the program, participants will pitch their refined business plan to a panel. All graduates will receive a $1,000 seed grant, and top performers may get the opportunity to pitch to investors and venture capitalists. Throughout the program and post-graduation, participants will be given personalized assistance and support that equates to roughly $2,500. This includes: 1:1 consulting services, legal and business formation support (when applicable), access to subject matter experts and advisors, technical assistance in areas such as marketing, finance, and operations, and networking and/or partnership opportunities through the Chamber and Tejara community. These services are tailored to the needs of each entrepreneur and delivered throughout time in the program and in the year after graduation.
